What Are the Benefits of Renting a Car Over Finance?
Renting a car provides financial flexibility compared to financing a vehicle. When purchasing a car on finance, you pay interest over time, and the vehicle depreciates in value. In contrast, rental offers a fixed, predictable cost without the risks of depreciation. Additionally, renting simplifies budgeting since registration, tyres, maintenance, and unexpected repairs are all covered, eliminating large out of pocket expenses. With rental, you enjoy the ease of driving a well maintained vehicle without the long term financial commitment.
Renting also provides flexibility to change vehicles as your needs evolve. If your family is visiting, you can switch to a 7-seater. If you need to transport large items, you can opt for a utility vehicle.
This adaptability allows you to always have the right car for your situation without the long term commitment of ownership.
1. Rental Process & Availability
How quickly will I receive a response to my rental request?
We aim to respond within 15 minutes during office hours. Requests made after hours will be addressed as soon as we open the next day.
What if my preferred vehicle is unavailable?
If your chosen vehicle isn’t available for all or part of your rental period, we’ll offer similar
alternatives at the same price point. You can choose an alternative for the full rental period or swap into your preferred vehicle once available at no extra charge.
2. Payments & Bonds
When is the upfront payment due?
To avoid delays, bank transfers should be made 3-5 business days before pickup to ensure funds are cleared. If paying by card or cash, payment can be made upon collection.
Can I pay the bond and first payment in cash?
Yes, you can pay in cash, but we still require a valid credit or debit card on file for security purposes.
How long does it take to get my bond refunded?
Card refunds typically clear within 3-5 business days, depending on your bank. If you need funds urgently, we offer instant Osko transfers instead.
3. Rental Duration & Extensions
Is there a minimum rental period?
No, but rental is charged per full day, not hourly. Even if you only need the vehicle for a few hours, a full day’s rate applies.
Is there a maximum rental period?
No, you can rent for as long as needed.
Can I extend my rental?
Yes! If your rental is going well, we can extend your agreement. If you need to return the vehicle earlier than expected, just let us know.
4. Late Payments & Fees
What happens if I can’t pay on time?
A late fee of $2.50 per day applies if a payment is missed without prior notice. If you’re unable to pay on time, email us before the due date to discuss a deferral.
5. KM Allowance & Usage
What if I’m unsure how many KMs I will drive?
We understand your driving needs may change due to work, relocation, or other factors. You can adjust your KM package at any time, and we can even apply changes retroactively.
6. Insurance & Accidents
Will I get a replacement vehicle if I have an accident?
We’ll provide a replacement vehicle as soon as possible, provided your rental account is up to date.
If the accident was not your fault and the at-fault driver’s details were provided, you won’t have to pay an excess.
How much is the insurance excess?
Our standard excess is $1,500 for drivers aged 25-74. For drivers under 25 or over 75, the excess is $2,500. You can reduce your excess for an additional fee.
7. Vehicle Care & Maintenance
Where do I take my car for servicing?
We cover up to $200 for a standard service, matching our retail rate. If the service costs more or requires additional repairs, contact us for approval first.
Is cleaning included in the rental?
Regular cleaning is your responsibility, but we offer optional detailing services at an additional cost.
What happens if the car is damaged?
If damage exceeds reasonable wear and tear and no responsible party is identified, repair costs may be deducted from your bond. Examples include scratches, dents, or interior stains not reported at pickup.
8. Travel & Restrictions
Can I drive the vehicle interstate?
Yes, as long as you stay within your KM allowance. If driving interstate frequently, consider adjusting your KM package to avoid overage fees.
Can I let someone else drive the car?
Only approved drivers listed on the rental agreement are permitted to drive. Additional drivers can be added upon request.
